Your wig is a
medical device.

A cranial prosthesis is the medical classification for a wig prescribed by a physician to treat hair loss caused by a diagnosed medical condition. When properly classified, insurance companies are required to evaluate it as medically necessary equipment — not a cosmetic purchase.

This distinction changes everything. At Privé Strandz, every medical wig purchase includes a properly formatted receipt with your diagnosis, HCPCS billing code, and all documentation your insurance company requires.

"Most women never claim insurance coverage simply because they don't know they can. We're here to change that."

Hair Toppers
Best for: partial hair loss, thinning at crown

Clip-in hair systems that blend with your existing hair. Ideal for early-stage alopecia, thinning crowns, or post-chemo regrowth phases. Available in various base sizes.

Lace Front Wigs
Best for: natural hairline, beginners

Sheer lace across the front hairline creates a completely natural look from ear to ear. Lightweight, breathable, and the most beginner-friendly option for full coverage.

Full Lace Wigs
Best for: maximum styling freedom

Lace across the entire cap allows parting anywhere and styling into ponytails or updos. The lightest and most breathable full-coverage option — excellent for sensitive scalps.

Monofilament Wigs
Best for: sensitive scalps, chemo clients

Each strand is individually hand-tied onto a soft mesh base for the most natural scalp appearance available. Parts in any direction. The gold standard for chemotherapy and alopecia clients.

Silk Top Wigs
Best for: bare scalps, maximum comfort

An ultra-soft silk layer sits directly against the scalp — no lace, no irritation. The most natural scalp illusion available, completely undetectable up close. Ideal for total hair loss.

Closure Wigs
Best for: protective styling, durability

A lace or silk closure at the crown with wefted sides. Durable, full-coverage, and easy to maintain. A great everyday option for clients seeking longevity and low upkeep.

What people ask
before booking.

No — you can book your consultation first. We'll walk you through exactly what your prescription needs to say so you can take that information to your doctor. If you already have one, bring it and we'll review it together.

Denials are common and often overturned on appeal. Our free insurance guide includes a step-by-step appeal process. The most common denial reason is incorrect wording on the prescription — we help you prevent that before you ever file.

We carry a full range of medical hair systems built for different degrees of hair loss and scalp sensitivity. Options include hair toppers (ideal for partial hair loss), lace front wigs, full lace wigs, monofilament wigs, and silk top constructions — all crafted from 100% virgin and raw human hair. During your consultation we'll assess your needs and match you to the right cap construction, material, texture, length, and density for your specific situation.

The $35 fee is not refundable, but it is fully credited toward your wig purchase. If you purchase at your appointment or within 30 days, the fee applies directly to your total.

Most clients submit their own claim directly through their insurance portal using the receipt we provide — it contains everything required. We're not currently billing insurance directly, but our documentation is formatted to make your submission straightforward.
